"Mark was an instrumental piece in my development as a setter. His extensive knowledge of the game not only gave me my foundation of technique but also ignited my passion for the game. He worked with my goal of getting a full scholarship at a Division 1 program and helped make it happen. He was so personable and trustworthy throughout the whole process. I am so blessed to have had a coach like Mark to help prepare me for my future volleyball career at Furman University!"

-Katie Murphy

"Your work with Katie not only made her a smarter and better setter but you taught her mental toughness and leadership skills that helped her receive a full scholarship at Furman University. Mark was always there for us as he guided our daughter to a full scholarship.  His consulting was spot on as Mark assisted in training Katie how to create transparent communication amongst prospective college coaches.

Thank you again for everything!"

"I had the chance to meet you a couple thanksgivings ago in California and since that moment you had been taking care of me in every single way. You offered me your experience and help and because of that I'm where I am at right now, with a great scholarship and at the college I want to be. I am even doing the major of my dreams!

Every time I thanked you I did it from the bottom of my heart because you made sure that all the offers were real and that I was going to find what I was looking for. You even kept checking on me after I got admitted with my coaches and about my grades or my injuries. You always made me feel like I had another father over here in America, and my family and I will always be thankful for the opportunity that you provided me."

"We could not have wished for better guidance and help with the recruitment process. Mark’s assistance was priceless and I can’t thank him enough for preparing Rosie for college visits and making us aware of many aspects that we would not have been able to foresee when starting this journey.  His knowledge, years of experience in coaching and recruiting and most of all, his caring attitude translated to confidence and piece of mind when exploring all the options and making decisions. He truly is a great educator, not just a recruiter.

Thanks to Mark’s support Rosie was prepared to ask the right questions during college visits, she became more aware of what to look for when talking to college coaches and stayed on track while juggling a busy school schedule with volleyball practices and travels. Mark was there for her to alleviate all the related pressure and stress.  He was always within reach when we had questions or needed clarifications. Having him by our side made the whole process way more manageable. What’s best is that even after committing, Mark is still checking on Rosie’s progress, sharing his insights and making sure that she stays on track honing her skills as a player and continues growing as a person while preparing for college experience.

Working with Mark not only helped Rosie find the best fit when it comes to choosing a school with a great academics and a full scholarship but it also facilitated her overall progress and independence in planning her own future. I can’t thank Mark enough for all he has done for my daughter."

Mark’s advice did not only help me achieve my goal of earning a Division 1 scholarship, but it led me to become a better volleyball player and leader that will last through the rest of my career. Even though I started from square one not knowing much about the recruiting process, Mark’s support helped me grow in my knowledge and awareness of what college coaches look for in a player and how to communicate with them. Mark is always a text or call away and I knew that any question I had would be answered clearly and thoroughly.

-Sarah Smevog

Mark’s knowledge of the recruiting process and the game itself was instrumental in our daughter landing a scholarship from a D 1 college of her choice. He spent time with our family explaining all that was required of us along with his role in the process. He spent multiple hours reviewing the videos we sent him to not only showcase our daughter but to make coaching recommendations in improving her skills as a player. The one on one time spent via video chatting with Sarah helped her become more responsible and accountable as a young adult. He stressed the importance of a student first and then an athlete. His continual encouragement along with guidance in the communication with interested schools was invaluable to Sarah and was instrumental in her making sound decisions both as a young adult and athlete. Our family appreciates all that he has done and to the lifelong friendship we have built in these past 12 months.   -Jeff & Lea Smevog *Parents

Mark was instrumental in getting my daughter recruited. He saw potential in her and knew she would be recruited. Mark would talk with Taylor often. He would video conference with us. He saw that she was landing wring when reviewing her video. In the video conference, he pointed this out to her, and explained how to change her landing. He went above and beyond in preparing Taylor and me for her official visits. Mark conference with us before recruiting trips. He told Taylor and I what to expect in a coach interested. I coached us through a mock question/answer session to ease our nervousness. He was available to talk when Taylor needed to step out of her meeting with a coach. He conferences with us after official visits to debrief. He gave us next steps. Mark did an amazing job highlighting My daughter’s strengths on the court when making her video. He also edited Taylor’s email that she would send out with the video.

My daughter was recruited by many schools, but my daughter fell in love with Cal Lutheran, a DIII school with a great volleyball program and great education. Mark knew the coach at Cal Lutheran. He asked the coach to go see Taylor and give him a coaches perspective so he could help Taylor. The day the coach saw Taylor, she was in contact with us.

Mark is someone I recommended to many people, including Ryann. Ryann ended up with a scholarship to St. Joseph’s in Vermont.

"Before I met Mark Riva I was trying to get recruited, but I was not exactly sure how to take the right steps to do so. He spent many hours on the phone coaching me on the questions to ask coaches and how to professionally respond to them. He prepared me for official and unofficial college visits. He was also very diligent when it came to making the right choice for my college education, I had quite a few offers, but he helped me make the right decision by talking to me about exactly what I wanted to do in the future and all of the changes that come with going to college. He put time and effort into my highlight and continuous play videos that I sent to the coaches. He helped show the coaches all of my strengths and potential. As of May 4th, 2018, I will be signing with La Sierra University to play volleyball on scholarship and to further my education. I have recommended him to many people at my club and I dearly appreciate everything he has done for me."
